Value Based Healthcare - The Journey Has Begun

John Brown was not feeling well. He went to see his doctor and was told he had high blood pressure. The doctor prescribed a hypertension drug and sent him home. A few months later, John had a stroke and became disabled. Is the doctor who failed to see the severity of John’s condition to blame, or is the drug company which supplied an ineffective drug responsible for the consequences? Should the payer of the healthcare recoup the cost from the doctor and from the drug company for failing to make John better?
